First Look: Iron Man 2, Robin Hood Trailers

These two new clips focus on two entirely different types of “heroes.” In the first trailer, the central character uses bows as his primary weapons. In the second - well, the tools are a bit more high-tech.

Robin Hood reunites Oscar winner with his Gladiator director, Ridley Scott, for a retelling of the famous 13th century-tale. The film, which promises to give us “The story behind the legend. The hero behind the outlaw,” also features Cate Blanchett as Lady Marion, the outlaw’s love interest, and Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes) as Sir Godfrey.

opens on May 14.

Whiplash poster for Iron Man 2

Move over War Machine, it’s time for something with a lot more hair.

In this new poster for Iron Man 2, is featured as Whiplash (a.k.a. Ivan Venko), Tony Stark’s Russian nemesis. It’s a role the Oscar nominee almost didn’t take due to contract negotiations. (I’m guessing the studio will easily get its money’s worth.)

To get a better look at Rourke’s body art and Nicolas Cage-esque ‘do, check out a different picture of him in character after the jump.

storms into theaters on May 7.

Move over, Batman and Robin—we’ve got a couple of cooler superheroes hitting the big screen.

In the latest promotional poster for next year’s much-anticipated summer blockbuster Iron Man 2, Don Cheadle’s character, War Machine, is featured standing behind Robert Downey Jr.‘s suited-up Tony Stark.

Robert Downey Jr. Will Do Sequels Until Forcibly Retired

Sherlock Holmes duo Robert Downey Jr. and Jude LawRobert Downey Jr. would happily only star in Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man movies for the rest of his career.

The actor loved his experiences on the set of both films so much, he wants to keep returning for new installments until he is forced to quit.

“I’d be happy to bounce back and forth between Sherlock and Tony Stark until I’m forcibly retired. And fortunately, not unlike Iron Man, there is a way to continue along the lines of Sherlock and not become embarrassed by my graying hair and more ropey muscles.”

Robert’s Sherlock Holmes co-star Jude Law also revealed he is hoping to get cast in a sequel to the detective adventure: “We would love the audience to fall in love with it as much as we have so we can tell a whole bunch more.”

Robert Downey Jr. Wants Violence

Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 2

Robert Downey Jr. says he has a good day when he gets to beat people up.

The actor urged writers and the stunt department of Iron Man 2 to give his character more action scenes because they are his favorite to film.

“The action’s certainly got bigger because I went to do Sherlock Holmes, which was a real adventure. So coming back into this I really challenged our stunt team to get our hands dirty a little more because I was still kind of into that… I love it so much. There is no better day that I can have than one where I beat people up or get thrown around. I just love it. It’s supposed to be safe, but it’s a little more than acting so it’s really fun.”

Scarlett Johansson Talks ‘Iron Man 2’

Scarlett Johansson as Black WidowNewlywed Scarlett Johansson seems to have her eyes on comic book roles as of late. First was last year’s The Spirit; next up is the highly-anticipated sequel to Jon Favreau’s Iron Man as Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow.

Despite her scoring several Golden Globe nominations, Johansson wasn’t offered the role—Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) was in line to portray the Russian spy. After Blunt dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, Johansson was quick to take action:

“I actually met with [director] Jon Favreau and [Marvel Studios executive] Kevin Feige a year before pre-production started. We just talked about some of the super heroines in the Marvel Universe and one of them was Black Widow. I think they were kind of toying with the idea of putting the character into the film and how they would work it in and all that. When I met Jon the second time I had red hair and a part of that, I think, was me wanting to experiment with my hair color and the other part of that was me kind of hoping that Jon would like the fact that I was experimenting.”
